How to be referrered


You can contact the hospital directly as a self-referrer to be seen by one of our consultants. As the treatment needs vary from patient to patient, you will need to provide:

  • Details of your problem or condition
  • An up-to-date medical report
  • Relevant details from your medical history
  • Any relevant test results



Alternatively, your doctor or treating hospital can refer you directly to one of our consultants or to a member of the private patients customer service team. They will then put you in touch with the most appropriate consultant.

A complimentary consultation to review this report and any test results you have can be arranged. This will determine whether you are eligible for our fixed package price.

If further tests are required to verify the best course of treatment and your eligibility for the package, these tests are chargeable as a private patient and not included in the package price.

If the consultant does not think a fixed package is suitable, guidance will be given as to what treatment he/she recommends which is bespoke to your condition. Options will be suggested to as to how to proceed with your care.

International patients

If you are an overseas patient enquiring about self-funded fixed price packages, you will need to follow the self-refer route detailed above. Your referral will not be through an embassy.

Paying for treatment

Once a consultant has agreed to accept a private patient, a letter of invitation will be sent. This will give details of the admission and indicate the total cost of the fixed package.

Full payment of the package price must be made before admission. Payment of any extra charges will need to be approved before you are discharged from the hospital.

Unfortunately, admission will not be possible if we do not receive payment of the agreed fixed price package in full.

All payments must be made in pounds sterling and can be paid over the telephone prior to admission. See below for accepted payment methods.

Payment options

We can accept payment by:

  • Bank transfer
  • Credit/debit card (MasterCard, VISA)
  • Bankers draft
  • Building society cheque

We accept major credit cards such as Visa and Master, however, we are unable to accept Diners or Amex.

We accept personal cheques too, but payments must be received by the hospital with cleared funds at least seven days prior to admission.

Personal cheques and bankers drafts should be drawn from a UK account and made payable to ‘Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Hospitals.
